More businesses in the West Midlands would recommend their region as a place to invest, work, live and study than London businesses would recommend the capital, research commissioned by regional development agency Advantage West Midlands shows. Funding from the Welsh Assmbley Government helps create jobs

Funding from the Welsh Assembly Government will help to create 30 jobs in Welshpool through the expansion of painting and decorating supplies manufacturer Morland Profiles Ltd, according to the Welsh Development Agency (WDA). A 3,000 sq metre unit has been built at the WDA's Buttington Cross Enterprise Park with cash from the Assembly's Pathways to Prosperity initiative, European Objective 2 programme, and the WDA. The firm will relocate to the new unit, creating 30 new jobs.
Hull to receive £20 million from the RDA

Hull is to receive more than £20 million from regional development agency Yorkshire Forward to regenerate underused and waterfront areas, as well as improve cycling and pedestrian routes, it was announced last week. The RDA said the investment is in addition to the £40 million allocated by it and the council when urban regeneration company Hull City Build was launched around two years ago.
North-West Development Agency pledges financial support

The North-West Development Agency last week pledged financial support for Wigan-based company Hilltop Products Ltd. The firm will receive money from the Selective Finance for Investment in England scheme. It will be given a grant of £242,000 for its capital investment programme, which will help it buy additional property and new equipment. The NWDA said the grant is the first SFI award in the Wigan area.
