A revamped community centre at Fulham, London, opened last week with local families taking part in activities, including arts and crafts, storytelling, climbing, dance, sport (above), and computer sessions. The Sands End Community Centre houses Sure Start early years and family support services, adult learning and sports development. The £1.9 million revamp was funded by Hammersmith and Fulham Council, the Learning and Skills Council and Sure Start. Mayor Charlie Treloggan said the revamp would "increase the numbers of local people using the centre", and contribute to lifelong learning.
