He joins after two years' consultancy working on the Shoreditch Our Way New Deal for Communities programme. In his new role he will be responsible for business employment and training, community safety and the environment.

A council and tenants' federation partnership in Slough, Berkshire, is seeking five board members. Part of the shadow board's responsibility will be to organise an Arms Length Management Organisation ballot later this year. Slough Borough Council estimates that it needs £45 million to bring its 7,800-strong housing stock up to a decent standard.
