Private equity investor ISIS Equity Partners has invested in the parent company of environmental consultancy SLR Consulting. Additional funding has also been provided by Lloyds TSB. SLR says the move will allow it to capitalise on expansion and acquisition opportunities available in the growing environmental consultancy market, particularly in areas such as waste management and renewable energy.

A Leeds-based task group has appointed specialist consultants to carry out a feasibility study into the development of cultural facilities, such as a concert hall, arena, conference or exhibition centre in the city. The Cultural Facilities Task Group, part of the Leeds Initiative's cultural partnership, has appointed consultants PMP to carry out the study, which will be funded by Leeds City Council and regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.

The Scottish Executive has commissioned Colin Buchanan and Partners (CBP) to investigate good practice in the administration of road safety by Scottish local authorities and identify lessons that can be applied across the country. The background to the research is the government's target to cut the number of people killed and seriously injured by 40 per cent by 2010. The research will look at why there is such a large variation in the casualty reductions being achieved by local authorities.
