A multi-million pound diagnostic treatment centre at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham has been given the green light. The three-storey building will provide day care and surgery facilities for patients across a range of medical disciplines. Plans designed by Rees-Evata Europe, a joint venture between architecture and planning consultancies Evata UK and USA-based Rees Associates, include a sculpture garden that could act as a forum for artists.

He succeeds historian, author and broadcaster Jim Hunter, who is stepping down after six years. A traffic management review of Heywood town centre in Rochdale will be carried out by Scott Wilson with ANSA Consultants. The firms have been appointed by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, the Rochdale Development Agency and communities partnership New Heart for Heywood. The commission follows a previous Scott Wilson study on regeneration in Heywood.
