The mixed-use plans include a 210-room hotel and 257 flats in an 8-storey podium block linked to a 31-storey residential tower designed by architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The new masterplan is a revised edition of an earlier proposal for a 27-storey hotel.

The regeneration of Hull moved a step forward last week following the approval of plans to reinstate the Wellington Street Swing Bridge. Hull urban regeneration company Citybuild gave the go-ahead to the £1.5 million development, which would improve pedestrian and cycle access to the city's waterfront. Development of the listed structure should take a year to finish.
