Norfolk County Council has chosen construction services firm May Gurney and engineering and management consultant Mott MacDonald for a ten-year partnership deal worth £400 million. The companies will work alongside the council to deliver planning and transport services across Norfolk. The new deal replaces the companies' partnership contracts, which they have held for five years.

Lovejoy has sold the main part of its business interests in Scotland to consultancy EDAW. The group says this will enable it to consolidate and expand its land planning services through its London and Birmingham offices and internationally. The acquisition enhances EDAW's presence and skills base in the UK. The Scotland team will continue to work from its offices in Edinburgh.

Transport News: Concorde completes journey to aviation museum

Concorde completed its journey to an aviation museum in Scotland last week, via the River Thames and the North Sea. The aircraft, which had its last commercial flight last year, was carried from Isleworth to the Thames Estuary on the Terra Marique, a pontoon designed to take heavy loads off the roads. After travelling along the east coast to East Lothian, the aircraft was moved overland to a museum at East Fortune.

A high-density mixed-use development for the centre of St Albans has been granted planning permission. The scheme, submitted to St Albans City and District Council by Linden Homes and Network Rail, consists of 362 flats, a doctor's surgery, a health and fitness centre, offices and improvements to the railway station. The scheme was designed by architects John Thompson & Partners.
