The results of a clean-up of the east end of St Paul's Cathedral in central London were revealed this week, following more than a year of restoration work on the outside of the building. The work is part of a £40 million programme to clean and repair the entire building for its 300th anniversary.

During president Mike Hayes's visit to the South West (see page 24), he discussed the work on parish plans being carried out by Caradon District Council. Councillor Martin Turner outlined the Menheniot parish plan, which demonstrates how improved services for the village have been achieved within one year of the plan's adoption, including partnership working with Cornwall County Council on footpath provision and the opening of a heritage bus shelter in the first phase of the village centre scheme.
