Education maintenance allowances will now be made available countrywide to encourage greater participation in further and higher education. Moves: Appointment at Epping Forest District Council

John Preston has been appointed head of planning and economic development at Epping Forest District Council. Preston has worked for the local authority since 1989 in a variety of posts. He replaces Ivan le Gallais, who has retired from the council after almost 30 years of service. Le Gallais was head of planning for ten years.
