The Department of Trade and Industry has launched at £50 million programme to support technological innovation. Science minister Lord Sainsbury called on businesses to put forward new project ideas in seven areas including renewable technologies and bioprocessing. The Government's architectural adviser is to set up a regional body to champion design and regeneration in East Lancashire's housing market renewal area. The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (Cabe) has been working alongside Elevate East Lancashire to set up Design East Lancashire, which will promote a range of initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of good design and provide design training to housing market renewal professionals.
