Tim Greenwood has been appointed as retained consultant for town planning and environment consultancy Terence O'Rourke. Greenwood, who is chairman of the Royal Town Planning Institute's minerals and waste committee, was previously county planning officer with Hampshire County Council. In his new role he will work on proposals in the Thames Gateway and on a new community elsewhere in the South-East.

A network of centres offering advice on planning matters to communities that cannot afford to hire a consultant should be set up, a new report claims. Consultancy Turner & Townsend and the RICS Foundation say the "neighbourhood aid" centres should operate in a similar way to planning aid.
