Plans for a new community in Pembroke Dock in Wales were launched last week. The masterplan for Martello Quays envisages up to 450 new homes, plus commercial and leisure space (see visualisation above), with the Martello tower as a focal point. The scheme would involve creating a lock to prevent water from draining away from the dock, which currently turns into mudflats at low tide. The civil engineering project would create new "fingers of land" stretching into the bay for development. The plan has been drawn up by developer Martello Quays on behalf of Pembrokeshire County Council, the Welsh Development Agency, the Crown Estate, Milford Haven Port Authority and Milford Haven Dock Company.
