STOP PRESS: CPRE chief executive resigns

The chief executive of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) has resigned in order to spend more time with her family. Kate Parminter, who has held the post for more than five years, said that balancing family responsibilities with running a high-profile campaign group had become too hard. It is understood that Parminter, who previously worked for animal charity the RSPCA, will not be moving to another organisation. She will continue to head the CPRE until a successor is appointed.
