Chris Pagdin has joined Watford Borough Council as head of planning and development. He previously worked at the ODPM, drafting national planning guidance, but has been on secondment at Buckinghamshire County Council as strategic transport services manager for the past two years.

The owner of an inn featured in the film Local Hero has fallen foul of planners at Aberdeenshire County Council after painting it blue. Brenda Kutchinsky, landlady of the Pennan Inn in the fishing village of the same name on the Moray Firth coast, decided to transform the 200-year-old pub with a splash of aquamarine.
