Abingdon-based architecture and town planning practice West Waddy ADP has announced that it is to sponsor a joint annual student award with the school of the built environment at Oxford Brookes University. The West Waddy ADP Award will be presented to the undergraduate or postgraduate student or student group whose project best combines the joint disciplines of architecture and planning. A shortlist of projects will be drawn up each spring and the winners will be presented with a £500 prize to help with their studies.

The facilities directorate of the Royal Berkshire and Battle Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed Colin Buchanan and Partners to conduct a study of the availability and use of all car parking spaces at the two hospitals. The study will establish details of employee travel habits at both sites. The imminent closure of Battle Hospital, scheduled for autumn 2005, combined with the loss of an overspill car park has resulted in the need for a strategy to manage parking demand at the Royal Berkshire site.
